Amy shares updates on previous book recommendations and contemplates how the ups and downs women encounter in life might differ from the archetypal “hero’s journey” described by Joseph Campbell. Jungian-oriented psychotherapist Maureen Murdock once suggested to Campbell that a more feminine perspective on his monomyth might be in order, and when he dismissed the notion, she addressed the question on her own, publishing The Heroine’s Journey in 1990. After briefly exploring this concept, Amy recounts her and Kim’s experience attending “Edward,” a one-man show that measures an ordinary life in an extraordinarily novel fashion.
