“The Lament for  Art O’Leary” (“Caoineadh Airt Uí Laoghaire”) was composed by Eibhlín Dubh Ní Chonaill upon the 1773 murder of her husband in County Cork. The anguishing funeral lament remains one of the  most iconic literary works in Irish history. In this bonus episode, Amy discusses what she learned about Eibhlín Dubh after reading the beautiful 2020 book by Doireann Ní Ghríofa called A Ghost in the Throat, a memoir in which the author embarks on an obsessive quest to uncover the truth about this legendary poem and its creator.
